EMC Troubleshooting and Consultancy

RadioCAD don’t simply test and report, but test and refine until we have a compliant result. This is our ‘EMC troubleshooting’ service, so called because products usually arrive here as EMC failures. RadioCAD specialise in making EMC failures into compliant products. Tim Jarvis has over 20 years experience in EMC engineering and product design.
Tim is also available to advise on EMC compliance throughout the product development cycle. In fact designing for EMC right from project start is RadioCAD’s recommended best practice. Tim is available for consultancy at all stages of your development project. Many customers pass schematics and PCB Gerbers to Tim for review before they commit to making prototypes.

The radiated emissions from this UPS (left) where traced to the design and layout of its microcontroller. Our client then re-engineered the microcontroller circuit as instructed by RadioCAD, with a resulting dramatic reduction in emissions (right).

DSL Router UHF emissions example

The UHF radiated emissions from this DSL router (left) where traced to patch-resonances due to the layout of the PCB 3V3 power-plane. Our client then re-layed the PCB under RadioCAD’s supervision. This resulted in greatly reduced processor clock harmonic emissions (right) and a compliant test result.
